OCR: Deserts and Arabia are usually considered inseparable, so it is no surprise to find that almost all of the Arabian peninsula is classed as desert. Bounded by the Persian Gulf to the east and the Red Sea to the west, the Arabian peninsula contains two thirds of the world's energy resources. This region is mainly less than 1600 feet above sea level, although there are a few mountainous regions between Israel and Jordan as well as in Syria.
